subtly unusual...

Subtly unusual fence design in Dromana Hills

And this is the entrance to the property - to the far right of the first photo.

pretty complementing neighbours...

Neighbouring Dromana Hills homes have the same fence styles and one is overhung with roses...

And the rose laden fence has an interesting entry.
Notice how low the mailbox has been set.

Mailbox Door to Ramp

A most unusual feature at the front of a home in the Dromana Hills.
The little ramp goes over what appears to be a small channel.

partial fence...

This property at Red Hill has a brick fence and pillar on one side of the entrance
and just a free standing pillar on the other...

artist's boundary...

Brick and iron surround the balcony of artist Michael Leeworthy's studio and home at Red Hill.

like a boundary of gnomes...

Little garden gnomes grace the line of the ramp railing at the front of a Dromana home...

Quamby

Just a little white wooden gate on a house at Balnarring Beach.
But the name on the gate fascinates me - especially as the house and gardens are quite elegant (but well screened - hard to photograph)  and sited on a double allotment.
There is a Quamby Estate in Tasmania.
Built in 1828, Quamby Estate is one of Tasmania’s most historically significant properties.
It was formerly the ancestral home of Tasmania’s first-born Premier, Sir Richard Dry.
There is a Quamby Homestead on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria and played a historical role in the emergence of Western Victoria.
Its history is HERE.
I wonder if this Balnarring property has some connection with one of these properties
- especially the last one,  as it is near ocean.

matching blue...

Blue railings on this Dromana Hills house - for stairs and balcony area - match the blue trim on the windows...

beach world fence...

Like a picket fence and white painted brick features at Balnarring Beach

The gateway design looks like an entrance to some old house.

The sea horses above the gate connect all this creativity with the nearby sea - Westernport Bay.

blue and white neighbours...

These neighbours in Dromana look as if they are sharing the fields of blue and white.
Only the dividing fence is grey.

Wednesday 1 January 2014

has the boundary moved?

Somehow this Dromana archway doesn't seem to line up with the fence or gate - which is on the left.
Not only that, the archway seems to be right on top of the fence line
Has the boundary moved?
Is the archway only a garden feature?
